Arena play
3 situations. Each one is drawn on the pitch in the app; the call and the rule behind it are below.

In the arena, an attacker takes the ball into the Hancock Zone with a defender in position. What applies?
Two taps at most, then it must be hit away. They must play positively: two taps at most, then hit it away.
In the arena, both teams foul at about the same moment. What applies?
No foul is given and play restarts neutrally. When both sides foul at about the same time, no foul is given.
In the arena, the ball rebounds off the side wall. What applies?
Play continues; the rebound creates a new line. The walls are in play. The rebound makes a new line of the ball.
Make the call yourself
Every one of these is drawn on the pitch in the app, and you make the call before you see the answer.
Every rule here is stated in our own words, with short quoted extracts from the HPA Blue Book 2026 and Green Book 2025 and a link to the book itself. Polo Rules Test is an independent study aid and is not affiliated with the Hurlingham Polo Association. In any dispute the published rulebook governs.
