Chukka
A period of play. Grass chukkas run seven and a half minutes; arena chukkas six and a half. Most games are four to six of them.
A normal chukka runs to a maximum of seven and a half minutes. The first bell goes at seven, meaning up to thirty seconds left. What happens at that bell depends on the ball. Out of play, the umpire whistles and the chukka is over. Still live, play carries on until the next break in play or the second bell at 7:30.
